Have you ever read something and it hit you so you shared it with someone else, but then you forgot about it … until … you read it again. Then it hit you again?
This happened to me this evening. I was going back through my screenshots on my phone deleting things I don’t need anymore, mostly recipes. 🙂 And then I came to this verse that I’d sent someone months ago.
Zachariah was a religious man and in his old age, he had a son. At the baby naming ceremony he gave a prophecy.
“Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people … We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.” Luke 1:68,74,75
God is The Rescuer. He is the One who can save us. Set us free. Give us life.
King David wrote about being lifted up out of the pit. He wrote about his feet almost sllpping, almost falling. God was the One lifting him – saving him from slipping and falling.
God doesn’t save us just so we can watch TV, scroll through social media, take selfies. He doesn’t even save us just so we can pour our lives out for others either.
He rescues us so we can serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.

That’s going to look different for each of us since He created us uniquely.
Take a moment and ask yourself – if you had absolutely no fears at all – what would your life look like? What has God called you to do that you’ve been afraid to do?
A rescuer.
The Bible is filled with stories of God rescuing people. Abraham. Hagar. Ishmael. Isaac. Jacob. Joseph. Rahab. Ruth. David. The list goes on and on. Each of these people chose to worship God after their rescue.
Will you?
