How many of us can look back at 2020 and 2021 and see some blessings that came out of the unexpected? Did you have extra time with family? Were you able to enjoy a slower pace of life – even if short lived? Or did you spend time worrying about things you didn’t have control over?
This year has just started and we have 350 (or so days) in front of us this year – what are you hoping for? And would you have even considered hoping for it if 2020 and 2021 hadn’t happened the way they did?
Hope. It’s a wonderful thing.
Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”
How often do we focus on the hopes that have been deferred instead of the longings that God has fulfilled in our lives? One of those will make our hearts sick while the other is a tree of life.
What would that type of life look like? A life where we focused on the longings fulfilled. God has richly bless each one of us – no matter what your current circumstances are. If you’re reading this – you have the ability to read. You have something electronic to read it on. You have access to electricity. The list can go on and on.
But, those aren’t the types of things I’m speaking of. I’m talking about the blessings that God has promised in His Word. God, the Creator of the Universe, promises to never leave nor forsake us. He is ever present in our lives. He tells us He’ll bend down His ear and hear our prayers. We’re allowed to enter His throne room thanks to Jesus. He loves us – when others fail us, God LOVES us. He sees us for who we are and loves us.
Let me encourage you in your own personal life to look for the promises God gives us in His Word. No matter what you might currently believe about God … I encourage you to take the time to see what The Bible says. Maybe you’ll keep your beliefs, or maybe you’ll change.
As you read God’s Word, there will be verses that speak directly into the wounds, cracks, and broken areas of your heart. Jesus came to heal the broken hearted and set the prisoner free. Let God’s promises heal you and set you free.
Hope.
It’s a good thing.
